JOE DOUGLASS & Spirit Of Praise
Few artists have the unique story and background like Joe Douglass and Spirit of Praise. Joe Douglass always had the gift of captivating the hearts of people. Initially as a promoter starting in 2009 Joe began bringing various concerts, seminars, and conferences to the bay area that crossed denominational barriers to bring all ages and walks of life to Christ.
His vision was always outside the box to reach more than the four walls of the church. Working with some of the biggest names in Gospel Music, Joe continued that same vision as a promoter to humbling submitting himself and saying yes to God with the ministry in Spirit of Praise which launched in 2011. Originally brought together because Joe had a solo engagement, Spirit of Praise eventually became a full on ministry movement through music saving one soul at a time through the platform God has graced them with.
Joe was able to walk confidently in call through a lot a musical influences , growing up in The Gospel Music Workshop of America under Helen J H Stephens. Accepted into UC Berkeley Young Musicians Program and UCLA Music programs as a teenager gave him the experience to read, write, and arrange music of all forms .
In 2014 Joe Douglass & SOP recording their first project, charting on gospel billboard charts for 9 weeks in the top 25 going as high as #4 in the gospel album sales category. Produced by David Jackson “The Great I Am” featured artist such as Tye Tribbett , Chrystal Rucker , Vonnie Lopez , Lena Byrd-Miles and more .
Joe continues to inspire young adults, and all walks of life bridging the gap between the world and the church . Enhancing his gift currently Joe Douglass is studying at the Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, California with a goal to graduate in 2021 with a Masters in Divinity.
The highly anticipated album Journey to Glory is expected to release in the summer of 2019 with new uplifting songs that are sure to warm the hearts of people. Working with Producer Mike Bereal , with collaborations with Lisa Page Brooks, Y’Anna Crawley, Deon Kipping and songs written by the late Edwin Hawkins; Journey to Glory is sure to be life changing messages of music for years to come Joe Douglass & Spirit of Praise continue to walk in Philippians 3:3 “for we are the true circumcision, who worship in the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh”
